Family friendly Autumn outdoor activities in Cornwall
Just because it’s autumn doesn’t mean you have to spend all your time indoors. Make most of the those sunny October days in Cornwall and spend some quality family time outside. With so many beautiful gardens, coastal paths and amazing beaches in Cornwall you could spend days discovering new places, exploring hidden caves, go on bike rides or fly kites.

Stunning Coastal Walks:
Breathtaking scenery and stunning views make Cornwall’s coastline ideal for long walk. Whether you just want to go for a little stroll or fancy something a
bit more challenging you can find lots of ideas for coastal walks of different length and difficulty on the South West Coast Path website.
The Eden project:
The so called Eighth Wonder of the World is the perfect choice for any weather. There is so much to see and if it rains you can spend hours inside the biomes discovering plants from all across the world. The Eden Project is very family friendly and offers many interactive workshops and activities for children of all ages. More information.
Go on a Fishing trip:
Autumn is the best time for a fishing trip in Cornwall. The weather is not too hot and if you wrap up warm you can have a lovely time on the boat trying to catch a mackerel or two. It also makes for some great Dad (or Mum) and son (or daughter) time. Fishing trips can be booked in Newquay, for example with Newquay Sea Safaris and Fishing.
Autumn in North Helford Walk:
Mushrooms, berries and colourful leaves, there is so much to see. Join ranger Charly for a walk along the North Helford coastline and spot the signs of autumn in the woodlands, coastline and meadows. 22nd October from 10am – 1pm. More information.
Spooky Trail at Lanhydrock:
In October follow the Spooky garden trails and take part in other fun activities for children at Lanhydrock Gardens and Country Estate. More information.
Feadon Farm Wildlife Experience:
Join the wildlife ranger for a woodland safari and see some of the local wildlife, before meeting the rescued foxes, Todd and Meadow. More information.
Barefoot Trail at Godolphin:
Take you shoes off and embark on a multi-textured adventure on the Barefoot Trail. More information.
Surf Events at Fistral Beach:
Visit Fistral beach in Newquay and watch some of the best surfers in the world compete. More information.
Fal River Autumn Walking Festival:
The Festival runs from 18th October to 3rd November featuring self-guided walks around the River Fal through some of the most stunning scenery Cornwall has to offer. Choose from a range of graded walks for all the family to suit all abilities. More information.
Geo cashing around Cornwall:
If you like Treasure Hunts then you will really like Geo Cashing. Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices, like your smart phone. All you need to do is register for a free membership, type in your postcode and choose a geocache from the list shown. Especially older kids absolutely love Geo caching so give it a go!
