Feedback from our guests is extremely important for us because we want you to have the best family holidays in Cornwall.
In 2014 we were very happy to learn that because of all the positive feedback we were receiving from you, we had been voted to be among the Top 25 Family Hotels in the UK. Read all our TripAdvisor Reviews.
We returned to Sands this year and were not disappointed . As previous reviews state this hotel is perfect for families. Our children are 6 and 2 and both were quite happy – given the gorgeous weather – to spend time playing in the hotel’s play areas and the outdoor pools. Which made the holiday great value for money. Porth beach was also a firm favourite for seaside fun – and beach equipment and wet suits are all freely available to borrow from the hotel.
What this hotel does well is really ensures that everyone on the holiday has a great time. The choice of things to do within the hotel is really good as never seems too busy. Plus it’s quite possible to have an adult-only dinner and not feel at all guilty since the kids are so well catered for at kids’ high tea and with great evening childcare. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful and we were delighted that both children begged to go to the evening kids’ clubs! Again, staffing is everything and the girls looking after our two were brilliant!
The food was excellent and the kitchen (God bless them) happily prepared me something special every night as I was on a restricted diet. And how gutted was I as cheesecake, crumble and chocolate cake were carried past me as I stuck to fruit! We certainly found the food choice had something for everyone.
We opted for a Contemporary Suite so kids and adults had their own space and the rooms were spotless.
There is little to find fault with here given you would spend a lot more to go abroad, eat less good food and have to share a room with the kids!
We are hoping to return soon!
Family suite with ocean view was large and could easily fit a larger family than 4. The bed, breakfast and dinner option is well worth the extra cash. The breakfast was the usual buffet. The dinner was always an amazing three course affair with a broad menu. Exceptionally well prepared and tasted wonderful. The cleanliness of the rooms could not be faulted and if you think that patterns vacuumed into carpets and upholstery every day is a bit much then tough! LOL Staff were all helpful and friendly. Amenities such as indoor pool and spa were great and also clean. Don’t believe whatever star rating this gets from AA or whoever as it is way above any other 3* places I have ever stayed, and better than many 4* too. Go there and enjoy!
Room Tip: The ocean views are amazing, sitting in a room with feet up, drink in hand and watching the sunset

"Yet another happy stay at the wonderful Sands Resort"
We popped down from Bristol on another Gap filler break for fathers day weekend. We’ve stayed a number of times over the last 4 years and it still feels like a home from home. We’ve always stayed in the contemporary suites, which provide the separate sleeping area for the children and amazing views for the parents.
We had fabulous weather so enjoyed a day on Watergate bay beach, followed by some fun in Sand’s outdoor pool on our return. We also enjoyed the indoor pool a couple of times in our visit.
The kids enjoyed themselves, and we also managed to take advantage of the listening service to enjoy a couple of civilised dinners with wine. The food was incredible value and of its usual high standards.
We can’t fault this place as it provides a nice balance of facilities, value and service and of course an amazing location.
Huge thanks to all the team as the hotel, including those behind the scenes. We had an amazing break again thanks. See you soon again.
Room Tip: Contemporary suites are wonderful. Higher floors have better views

"Best Family Holiday ever"
I am so happy to have found this resort and it is completely true to what it claims to be. The resort is a complete family resort.
We stayed there to celebrate our daughter’s second birthday and she totally enjoyed it. The room was clean and spacious. The staff were very helpful . My daughter loved the soft play area and the bouncy castle. There are entertainment events during the evening, which my daughter thoroughly loved. The food is fresh and good… Overall an excellent holiday.

"Great for families with young children"
This was the first family friendly hotel we had ever stayed in, but we were looking for somewhere to stay with our 3 year old and 1 year old. We loved the Sands Hotel. The Family Suite was spacious, light and airy with stunning sea views. Our boys slept in one room which was really lovely with 2 twin beds and a wooden cot for the baby (not a travel cot). Our room / living area was large, airy and had one of the most comfortable king size beds I have ever slept in overlooking the sea.
The facilites are fantastic. There is a lovely indoor pool which isn’t crowed and an indoor play area. When we arrived there was a bouncy castle outside too along with a playground including a pirate ship which my boys loved. I escaped to the spa for a massage one morning which was lovely – first time I have had one in 4 years!!
The food was lovely too. The boys loved high tea at 5pm and we came down and a 3 course meal in the restaurant in the evening using the baby listening service. I had local fish and a chocolate gooey pudding!
The staff were fantastic too – nothing was too much trouble even finding me a spare bucket and spade as I had forgotten to bring one!
The hotel is ideally located to see all the attractions in Cornwall too and is just a 5 mins walk from a lovely sandy beach.
Recommended – we will be back.
