4 – 20 April
Truro’s cultural festival celebrates the diversity and creativity of the arts with exciting events taking place all over the city. Following this extraordinary success last year, visitors to Truro Festival 2014 will be treated to live dance and music performances, literary trails, live storytelling and workshops, culminating in a massive outdoor music event on Lemon Quay, which will leave the city buzzing.
Six pop up festival huts will be appearing and moving around, taking the festival feel to all corners of the city. A huge number of weird and wonderful mini events will be taking place in these huts including; Exhibitions, Museum workshops, storytelling, theatre, street art, live music, face painting, Punch and Judy, charity challenges and much more! 5 – 25 April
Emus and Hatching time at the Lost Gardens of Heligan
To celebrate the arrival of emus Queenie and Edmund, the gardens are launching an Easter Emu Trail. Look around the jungle for house warming gifts that Queenie and Edmund have received from their cousins in Australia. Have fun hunting for the gifts and learn some amazing facts about these incredible birds along the way. And whilst you are there meet also meet the newly hatched chicks and Aylesbury ducklings in the Poultry Orchard. More info.

Peppa Pig’s Big Splash at Hall for Cornwall
Fresh from the success of Peppa Pig’s Party and Peppa Pig’s Treasure Hunt comes Peppa’s brand new show Peppa Pig’s Big Splash that will be shown at the Hall for Cornwall in April. Join Peppa, George, Mummy and Daddy Pig, as well as Danny Dog, Pedro Pony, Suzy Sheep as they have fun putting up bunting, running stalls and organising a great day out. Learn more.

Cornwall Spring Flower Show, Bocannoc
Cornwall Spring Flower Show is renowned for its wonderful displays – with a wide range of competitive classes that include ornamental trees and shrubs, magnolias, camellias, rhododendrons, daffodils, herbaceous plants, bulbs, pot plants, alpines, photography and floral art. There are also children’s classes and show gardens. Held at the stunning Boconnoc estate, near Lostwithiel, the event was first staged in the late nineteenth century and has continued to run every year since. Read more.

Feadon Farm Wildlife Experience
Join the wildlife ranger for the adventure of a woodland safari, where you will meet some of the local rescued wildlife including the foxes, Todd and Meadow. Learn more.
8th & 15th April
Chocolate Tuesday at St Kitts Herbery
Bring the kids and join the team at St Kitts Herbery for their Chocolate Tuesdays, making and taking away your own decorated chocolate lollypops, moulded solid chocolate shape and chocolate jazzie buttons. Sessions cost £4.50 per child and will run on the hour and half past the hour from 11am to 3pm. There’s no need to book in advance, just check in at the till when you arrive.

Bushcraft fun at Cotehele
Pull on your wellies and have some fun in the outdoors during half term. Build a den and hide in it, light a fire and toast marshmallows. Read more here.
Campfire Cookery at Mount Pleasant Eco Park, Porthtowan
One of the exciting events happening as part of the St Agnes Outsid’er Festival. Come and make your fire up and then prepare (and of course eat) a multitude of treats from simple sausages on sticks to damper bread, orange skin muffins and vegetable packages. Experiment with campfire cooking techniques and have lots of fun whilst doing it. Be prepared to get smokey and messy and come with your cookery creativity! Bat Conservation at Trerice/Newquay
Visit the popular National Trust Elizabethan manor, Trerice near Newquay and learn about bats as well as seeing them up close during the bat walk starting at 6pm depending on the weather. Learn more.

Porthleven Food Festival
This year’s Porthleven Food and Music Festival is themed ‘Local Food, Global Stage’ and is hoped to be the most exciting to date, encompassing exotic world flavours, music and entertainment. As well as all day cooking demonstrations there will also be over 90 food and craft stalls surrounding the harbour with an emphasis on world street food. The music offering this year will be an exciting, eclectic mix of the traditional and modern, local and international and will be performed during the daytime on two outdoor music stages situated on the historic harbour side then moving into the main marquee for more bands, revelry and dancing into the night.
