Magnificent late Victorian country house with gardens and wooded estate
If you are going for a day trip whilst on your Family Holidays in Cornwall you shouldn’t miss this gem of Cornish Heritage.
Just off the A30 (about a 30 minute drive) is the National Trust Lanhydrock Park. Conveniently if you are travelling with children you can use Lanhydrock as a picnic stop on your journey home. In the large, free car park you’ll find an adventure playground in a shady, wooded area at the far end. If you follow the road the car park is on you’ll find a short, flat walk down to the pretty Respryn Bridge over the river Fowey.
The house and grounds are well worth a visit and will easily fill a whole day. The huge park lands that surround the house are full of walks, cows and sheep!
The house itself is superbly preserved. There are trails for the kids to follow, lots to keep their attention on the way round and in the summer months a vintage car offers a lift for tired legs back up to the car park (at a small additional cost)
In the stable yard is a good, little café selling home made soups and cakes also a well-stocked National Trust Shop.
