Padstow May Day (12 miles from Sands)
May Day in the centre of Padstow. “Osses”, dancers performing a traditional gyrating dance to the sound of musicians and drummers, a procession singing of the traditional May Song. Read more.

Vintage & Handmade Spring Fayre at St Mawgan (4 miles from Sands)
Duchy Vintage Party will be hosting a vintage and handmade spring fayre is being held at St Mawgan’s Village Hall on Saturday 3rd May 2014. There will also be a pop up tea room and the entry is free between 11am and 4pm. Read more.

St Agnes Bolster Festival (15 miles from Sands)
St Agnes Bolster Festival in Churchtown. A celebration of Cornish music and art featuring life size puppets, a drum band and a 28ft giant effigy called Bolster. Tickets: Free. Read more.

English National Surfing Championships (1.5 miles from Sands)
Don’t miss the English National Surfing Championships Held at Watergate Bay, Newquay. The surfers battle against the seasoned pro’s to take the prestigious National Surfing Champion title. Time: 10am. Read more.

10 — 11 May
Thundercat Racing National Championships (1.5 miles from Sands)
The ThunderCat Racing National Championships return to Newquay this May. The Surfboard powerboat racing event will be held just off the coast at Watergate Bay in Newquay this weekend for adrenaline-fuelled fun! More Information.

Lostfest in Lostwithiel (25 miles from Sands)
Lostfest in Lostwithiel with arts and craft stalls in venues all over the town along with live music and dance both indoors and out. By popular demand, Kernow Levy are back. This medieval battle re-enactment group will be slashing and slicing their way around town – don’t miss any of the action! Tickets: Free. More Information.

17 — 18 May
St Ives Food & Drink Festival 2014 (33 miles from Sands)
This year’s festival will see a wide range of events running from beautiful Porthminster beach across Saturday and Sunday including cooking demonstrations, food foraging walks with nationally acclaimed forager, Carolyn Davey of Fat Hen, around 30 of Cornwall’s finest food and drink producers exhibiting and selling their produce, More Information

23 – 26 May
ART8 Arts & Culture Festival & Mr Be Clown Show (various places Newquay)
The ART8 festival is a four day festival bursting at the seams with events, exhibits and workshops involving film, craft, spoken word, dance, photography, theatre, music, literature and more. 

As part of the festival Swamp Circus will be presenting Mr Be Clown Show on 24th May at 10.30am. More Information.

The Pendennis Cup (25 miles from Sands)
The return of the Pendennis Cup to Cornwall. An impressive range of super yachts to the waters of Falmouth Bay for four days of challenging racing and including lots of off shore events for all the family. More Information.

Medieval Village at NT Trerice (4 miles from Sands)
