Lafrowda Festival (1 hr drive from Sands)
Lafrowda Festival is an annual event, in celebration of community arts. This year’s theme is “Hysterical Histories!” A fortnight of fun-filled activities from quiz to dance, willow image-making to mummers, pop-up tattoo parlours to knitting for victory. See the full programme

6 – 7 July
Bodmin Riding + Heritage Day (30 mins drive from Sands)
Bodmin Riding features some of the town’s history and some myths surrounding the beast which is chased by the Helliers, a posse of young men dedicated to pursuing and capturing the Beast.  More information

10 – 13 July
Garden Truro (30 mins from Sands)
Celebration of all things gardening in Truro. More information

13 July
Newquay Lions Carnival 
Everyone is invited to come into Newquay town to see the Newquay Lion’s Carnival Grand Parade. Expect to see fantastic floats and fancy dress as they parade through the town on Saturday 13th July from 6pm. More information

14 July
Sandcastle Competition in Newquay
Bring your bucket and spades Newquay Lion’s are holding a sandcastle competition down on Towan Beach. From 12:30 everyone is invited to go down and build a sandcastle or a sculpture. Prizes for the best one! More information

15 July
Marazion Carnival (45 mins drive from Sands)
Come along to Marazion for free fun and entertainment on Sunday 15th July from 12 to 6 pm. Enjoy live music, dancers, magic, Punch & Judy, demonstrations, games, a tug-of-war competition, a barbecue, cream teas and lots of stalls as well as a noisy and colourful procession through the town at 12. 24 July
RNAS Culdrose Day (50 mins drive from Sands)
Culdrose Air Day is a great event for the whole family. As well as an exciting, action-packed flying display, there will be lots of things to see, touch and try on the ground. Visitors can climb onboard aircraft, be “scrambled” on a search and rescue mission, be winched high into the air or jump into the driving seat of a military fire engine. More information

Story Telling at the Eden Project (40 mins from Sands)
Eden is one of the few places in the world that stages live storytelling every day, so you will be able to hear a tall tale whenever you visit! Eden aspires to be a place where the stories of our futures are created and told. Storytelling sessions happen every day at 12pm and 2pm, normally in the Citrus Grove in the Mediterranean Biome but check the noticeboards around the site for the exact location. More information

Rock pooling at Glendurgan Gardens (50 mins drive from Sands)
Make the most of low tide in the middle of the day and discover the rock pools down on Durgan beach. Identification sheets provided. Nets and buckets available at their shop. More information

29 July
Bat Night at The Lost Gardens of Heligan (40 mins drive from Sands)
Learn about our native British bat populations, lookout for their distinctive movements and have the chance to hear their calls across the night-sky. Bat expert Tony will be bringing along bat detectors to listen out for and identify the five different species of Bats found at Heligan. More information

30 July
Fireman Sam at Crealy (25 mins drive from Sands)
Fireman Sam is coming to Cornwall’s Crealy on Tuesday 30 July with a mini show at intervals throughout the day. A must for all young Fireman Sam fans. More information
